The drought situation has improved for 6 weeks in a row across West Tennessee. It looks much better, but we have a little bit more work to do.

TONIGHT:

The next system passed by on our Friday. Friday started out warm but cooled down quickly towards the back half of the day after the cold front passes. We also saw some brief heavy rain and a round of storms as well. Some of the storms produced hail and gusty winds. We even had a severe storm pass just to the south of Lexington around 4pm. The rain and storms will try to transition to  a brief wintry mix or light snow but seeing much isn’t expected at this time but it cannot be ruled out.

Highs on Friday hit the low 60s and will be falling down to around 30° by Saturday morning. The winds will shifted from the west to the northeast as the day went on and will be quite gusty out of the north tonight as the system moves out. The wind chill will be in the low 20s late overnight. Chances for precipitation on Friday night will clear out after 10pm. The skies will remain mostly cloudy tonight but may try to clear out some by Saturday morning.

The winds will shift to the west on Sunday and temperatures will be a little bit warmer reaching the low 50s on Sunday. NEXT WEEK:

Monday highs are going to warm back up to the mid 50s and low 60s are expected on Tuesday. We could even see highs reaching the mid to upper 60s on Wednesday. The winds will come out of the south and southwest for the first half of the week. The week will start out with plenty of sunshine but the clouds will slowly build back in as the week progresses. There could be some late week showers returning but there is not a lot of confidence in the back half of the forecast yet. If we do see the showers coming back, the earliest day looks like it is going to be on Thursday.

FINAL THOUGHT:

Some heavy wet snow fell across West Tennessee Monday night but quickly melted during the day on Tuesday. Quiet and mild weather will stick around for the majority of the work week with the next system coming in on Friday. The weekend will be dry, but it appears like it is going to be a cold weekend as well. We will keep an eye on the forecast on Friday as well as there is a chance we could see more than rain depending on where the temperatures are sitting Friday night.
