JMC Library hosts a special “Dolly” story time
JACKSON, Tenn.—A special reading event celebrates a music icon.
The Jackson-Madison County Library held a special Saturday story time for children to come and listen to a book reading.
The event took place at 10:30 this morning and was held in celebration of the Imagination Library founder, and country music icon, Dolly Parton. Participants listened to stories about Dolly and also made a craft.
“It’s so important from the time that their babies to let them feel ownership of books and to have books that someone can read to them over and over and over again, and that they can feel like it’s theirs so that can lead to a lifetime of loving to read,” said Jennifer Kilburn, Children’s Librarian.
Participants of this event were encouraged to attend a special event afterwards by the Madison County Imagination Library, “Dolly Day” at Turntable Coffee Counter in downtown Jackson, where proceeds would go to support the Madison County Imagination Library program.
Imagination Library, started by Dolly Parton in 1995, is a program that provides children with books each month until the age of five to help promote literacy.
