Spotty Showers Early Thursday, Some Chances in the Evening!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Temperatures reached the mid 70s today, near record highs across West Tennessee. The warm and humid weather will continue tonight. There will be some spotty showers during the first half of the day on Thursday but some storms will mix in between 4-9pm too. We will have the latest on the storm threat, your weekend forecast and more on a potential significant storm threat coming next week, all coming up here.

A cold front and low pressure system are on the way and will bring a round of rain showers and some evening thunderstorms back on Thursday. Severe weather is not likely but a gusty storm or some hail cannot be ruled out. Cooler weather moves in behind the front.

TONIGHT:
Wednesday was a warm day across the Mid South with highs making it up to the mid 70s°. The humidity also increased as the day went on and that will help fuel our next chance for showers and storms coming in on Thursday. We stayed dry on Wednesday and will stay dry tonight, but we saw more clouds than on Tuesday and thicker clouds will move in tonight. The winds will were a bit breezy and came out of the southwest around 15 MPH and will stay a bit breezy tonight. Wednesday night will be warm and humid with overnight lows only falling to the mid 50s.

THURSDAY:
The next chance for showers and potential storms will be here on Thursday. A couple strong storms cannot be ruled out in the evening and we will be keeping a close eye on our storms as they develop between 4-10pm. The most likely time to be impacted in Jackson will be between 6-8pm. The storm line will be dropping in from the north and the storms will be moving west to east.

Highs on Thursday will make it up to the mid to upper 60s depending on when the showers begin. We could see some spotty showers early in the day but we are not expecting much until the evening. The rain showers and or storms are forecast to clear out by Thursday night. Expect a cloudy and humid day with the winds coming in out of the southwest before transitioning to the northwest late behind the front. Chances for rain is 80% as of now.

FRIDAY:
The showers and storms on Thursday should move out before we start our day on Friday. The clouds will stick around in the morning before clearing out as the day goes on. Highs on Friday will be a little cooler behind the front and will reach up to the upper 50s though still. Friday night lows will fall down to around 40°. The winds Friday will come out the northwest and be a tad breezy in the afternoon.

THE WEEKEND:
The winds are forecast to shift back to the west on Saturday and to the southwest on Sunday. That will start to warm things up again this weekend. Highs on Saturday are forecast in the mid 50s with upper 60s to near 70° expected for our Sunday. We will likely see a lot of sunshine this weekend with possibly a few more clouds on Sunday. Saturday night will drop to the upper 30s if the skies are clear and Sunday night lows will dip into the low 50s to start the following work week. As of now, rain showers are not in the forecast this weekend.

NEXT WEEK:
We are likely going to start off next week above 70s for both Monday and Tuesday. The humidity will also be increasing late Monday into the day on Tuesday and that could help set the stage for a round of thunderstorms in the middle of next week. This could be our first shot at some significant severe weather so far this season. The system is still over a week out and the forecast will likely change but we should have a better idea what to expect and when by the upcoming weekend. The winds will come out of the south and southwest for the first half of the week and we should see mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies to kick off next week as well.
FINAL THOUGHT:
Long term forecast models are suggesting a warm finish to the month of February and a warm start to March. Spring is about 4 weeks away and starts on March 19th this year. As the warmer weather moves in, we might be transitioning to more of a severe weather threat than a cold and snowy one for the last month of Winter. The next chance for storms is coming in on Thursday this week, but the following weekend is looking pretty nice though.
