WHAT THE TECH with Jamey Tucker | Preventing Thieves from Disabling Apple’s ‘Find My’ Feature

"Preventing Thieves from Disabling Apple's 'Find My' Feature by Turning off Bluetooth, WiFi, and Cellular"

“Find My” is a useful feature for Apple devices that allows the owner to locate their device on a map and even direct them step-by-step to where it is. However, turning off Bluetooth, WiFi, and cellular can effectively disable this feature, even if the device is locked with a passcode.

This can be done by swiping down from the top right corner and opening “Control Center”. To prevent this, users can turn off “Control Center” access when the device is locked under “Face ID and Passcode” in settings.

While this won’t prevent theft, it can make it more difficult for thieves to disable the location feature and give users more time to locate their device using “Find My”.
