"Quick Access to Medical Assistance: Tips for Calling 911 from a Locked Phone"
In case of a medical emergency, calling 911 from the patient’s phone is the best option to ensure quick medical assistance.
If the phone is locked, swipe up on an iPhone to get to the Emergency button on the Passcode keypad. Tap it to dial 911 and access the patient’s Medical ID, which contains their name, age, medications, and emergency contacts.
Android devices have a similar Emergency button. For Apple Watch users, pressing the bottom button and swiping to call 911 will also send a message to emergency contacts. It’s also recommended to add emergency contacts and turn on “Show When Locked” and “Share during emergency call” in the Health App settings.
Parents should teach their kids how to call for help in case of an emergency.
