Tips for Staying Connected When Your Cellular Network Goes Down
What to Do When Your Cellular Network Goes Down
According to tech expert Jamey Tucker, these outages can occur due to problems with the network as a whole or when the cellular provider is updating the network or the cell towers. But what can you do when you’re faced with a network outage?
Firstly, you’ll know your network is down when you see “SOS” at the top of the screen. However, it’s important to note that you should still be able to make 911 calls as cellular companies are required to provide emergency services on all phones regardless of connectivity. They do this by working with other providers and sharing space on cell towers.
But what about regular calls and texts? If your service goes down, your phone will connect to the internet if you’re on WiFi. By turning on “Wi-Fi” calling under settings, your phone will place calls over the internet when a WiFi signal is stronger than a cell signal.
It’s important to make these changes before an outage occurs, as all providers have had issues in the past and will likely have outages in the future. By being prepared, you can ensure that you’re still able to communicate even when your cellular network goes down.
