‘Holy Graffiti’ event draws volunteers to Isaiah 117 House

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Words have lasting power on people emotionally, intellectually and physically. This organization continues to change lives one prayer at a time.

Isaiah 117 House in Gibson County hosted a “Holy Graffiti” event.

Participants had the opportunity to use a sharpie marker and cover the wall studs of the home with scriptures.

We spoke to Jennifer Milam, the location leader of Gibson County, who stated that Sunday was a great day.

“It has been such a blessing just starting with the weather, it has been wonderful. This community has come out and supported. We had churches bring people in their church bus and it has just been overwhelming and such a blessing. We had Pastor Hilson from Love and Truth Dyersburg pray over the home,” Milam said.

The two-story home will house foster kids in the Gibson, Dyer and Crockett County area.

“This is where DCS will come and bring our children of our area for them to wait for foster placement,” said Milam. “They will be here in a loving home with volunteers here like me. They can come and get a bath, hygiene items, clothing items, their favorite meal.”

Milam also stated that they are taking new clothing and hygiene items if you would like to help.

“You can find that information on our Facebook page. It’s Isaiah 117 House Gibson, Dyer, Crockett County, and also you can email us for more information if you’re interested in helping us in volunteering,” Milam said.

We spoke to volunteer, April Trimmer, who wanted to tell some people thank you.

“We want to thank all of our contractors. Everybody who’s donated, who’s given their time, their talents. None of this would be possible without all of them, and every day somebody new stops in or somebody calls and they want to donate something they have to offer,” said Trimmer.

Milam also stated that they had something special for the community as well.

“We have t-shirts for sale, and again, that’s more about the awareness than it is selling the shirt,” Milam said. “We have bracelets. We also ask people for their information for their emails for our monthly newsletter. We had cookies and water bottles and refreshments today for the community.”

Lashlee-Rich Building Materials and City Lumber Company of Dyer  came together and donated lumber for Isaiah 117 House.
