Last day for early voting in Madison County
JACKSON, Tenn. –Today marked the last day of early voting here in Tennessee as polls close at 4 p.m.
The Administrator of Elections for the Madison County Election Commission, Lori Lott, says that early voting was a little bit slower than normal.
“It’s a little slow. This election is kind of different. We usually vote a lot of people on election day. So we expect a heavy day on election day,” said Lott.
Now if you were not able to get into early voting, Lott tells us about some changes that were made in Jackson-Madison County about the sites an the locations of where you may be voting. She also reminds us of what you need to bring.
“Well they need to call our office if they are unsure of where they’re supposed to vote. We have moved eight precincts out of schools. So they may not realize that and may not have received their card. We did send them out but sometimes the mail doesn’t reach them,” Lott said, “They need to bring their ID. Their Tennessee driver’s license would be great.”
Now if you were not able to get into early voting, that’s okay, there is still some time next week. Lott tells us about what you can expect to see on the ballot.
“This is called the Presidential Preference Primary. And we have a county primary as well. So you’ll have your nominees for President on both sides, your delegates on the Republican side, and on the county local side we have assessor of property, and some school boards, Districts 2,3,5, and 6,” said Lott.
Tennessee Presidential Preference Primary Election day is next Tuesday, March 5th.
Lott says you will need to choose which party you are voting for when you come in.
