Tennessee Secretary of State announces the launch of the Tennessee Businesses Against Trafficking program
JACKSON, Tenn. — Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett announces the launch of the Tennessee Businesses Against Trafficking program.
Hargett joined with general assembly members and community advocates to create a program to engage businesses in the community in the fight against human trafficking. This is a training program that will give employers the ability to provide their employees with training on how to identify, prevent and report human trafficking. Participants will participate in public awareness and education campaigns and share practices with the Secretary of State’s office. According to TBI, human trafficking is the second-fastest growing crime in the U.S., and crimes of this nature have been reported in all 95 Tennessee counties.
“Hopefully people become more educated about what the signs are and what to do through this program,” said Hargett.
