Woman arrested for theft, meth charge after elder exploitation investigation
HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. — A West Tennessee woman was arrested following an investigation regarding financial exploitation of an elder.
According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, 53-year-old Melony Jones was taken into custody earlier this month on theft and drug charges.
The Sheriff’s Office says that Jones was employed by an elderly victim’s family as sitter, and it was discovered that shortly after she was terminated, cash and other items were missing from the victim’s home.
On February 22, authorities executed a search warrant at Jones’ home, located in the 800 block of Broadview Road in Springville.
The Sheriff’s Office says the search resulted in evidence that led to Jones being charged with theft over $60,000 and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
The Sheriff’s Office says that the investigation remains ongoing, stating that any other persons that profited from this crime can and will be charged.
Records available online indicate Jones remains in custody at the Henry County jail, with an arraignment currently scheduled for Thursday morning.
