JRPD hosts 2nd annual Bowls for The Hungry event

JACKSON, Tenn. — One event gives the community the opportunity to buy a bowl for a cause.

Jackson Recreation and Parks Ceramics will host their 2nd annual Bowls for The Hungry event.

This allows community members to purchase ceramic bowls created by the JRPD Ceramics Instructor, Allyssa Miller, along with her students.

Salvation Army, The Dream Center, Tennessee Homeless Solutions, The Place, Area Relief Ministries, and Regency Inter-Faith Association are organizations participating in the event.

All proceeds go to one non-profit organization that JRPD partners with to help with food and housing.

Pottery bowls will also be added to the mix this year.

“There’s so many in our community who don’t have access to the resources that they need to have a good living so we ‘re trying to help people get on their feet and get established in our community,” said Allyssa Miller.

Last year, the Salvation Army was the recipient of over $3,000 dollars that was raised at the event.
