Mingling and meaningful conversations, JRPD’s Tea Time Talking for seniors

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Recreation and Parks Department’s Tea Time Talking event was held earlier today at the Northside Community Center.

Created for those 50 and older, the event involved completing velvet arts and crafts with positive messages.

This week’s topic of conversation was trauma informed care and happiness.

The event ended with chair exercises and light refreshments.

Tea Time Talking is held twice a month.

Once at West Bemis Baptist Church on the second Tuesday of the month, and once on the third Friday of the month at the Northside Lions Club from 10 to 12.

The goal is to keep seniors active in mind and body as well as find community.

“Get up, get your shower, get dressed, come out and you’re gonna enjoy because it’s very fun. If nothing else we’re mixing and mingling with people your own age where you can but you’re gonna always learn something, we have excellent topics that we talk about every time,” said Frieda Croom-Conner, Special Events Coordinator for Jackson Recreation and Parks.
