Gibson County lady Pionners speak on winning State championship
lady pioneers basketball team.. Because this
past weekend they defeated Loretto in the class 2a championship
with a final of 49 to 37 to become state champions. The lady Pioneers
in the state tournament went through the likes of Huntingdon and
York institute to make it to the big dance.They went undefeated
in the region at 8 and 0 and had an overall record of 38-1.This Gibson county
program has hoisted 3 championships in their history in the years of 2009,2010, and
in 2019 and now for a fourth time in 2024. We caught up head coach Mitch Wilkins
and Miss basketball winner
Micah hart and he talked about the what it means to the program and Micah
speaks on how blessed she is to be a champion. Take a listen.
I couldn’t do it without them and the coaches. That’s

Coach Wilkins- It feels awesome these girls been working for this for
a long time and honored to be there coach and this young lady sitting
beside me was a great senior leader this year just blessed to bring home
the gold. Well just to know we’re continuing the success that people before us had
To be able to keep that going on and keeping the Lady Pioneers spirit and focus alive
in this area really means alot to our community.
