Law enforcement recaptures suspect released in error
CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — The Crockett County Sheriff’s Office righted a wrong today, March 22.
“Last Saturday night, Wiliam Lavont Edwards, date of birth, 2-12-95, made bond on a child support charge and he was inadvertently or accidentally released. -but there were other charges pending with no bond out of circuit court. It was for failure to appear on reckless endangerment, two counts of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and evading,” said Crockett County Sheriff Troy Klyce.
Klyce stated that Edwards was able to make bond, but that he was supposed to be held without it.
“Actually, I don’t know if he really knew that he was actually wanted cause he was able to make bond which is the reason why we hadn’t made this public thus far. We was hoping that he wouldn’t expect us to be looking for him,” said Klyce.
Klyce told how they were able to find the suspect.
“We was able to develop some information this morning about the type of vehicle he was driving and that he might frequently go to that area. And actually I just drove up and the car was sitting there so you get lucky sometimes,” said Klyce.
He stated that this was a mistake made.
“We had an accident and like all software, it can be confusing. It’s kinda new to them so we’ve been able to make sure we got that corrected,” said Klyce.
Klyce also wanted to thank the U.S. Marshalls, and Alamo and Bells Police Department.
