4th Annual Giraffe Awards return honoring community heroes

JACKSON, Tenn.—One event recognizes individuals who go above and beyond in the mental and behavioral health fields.

The Fourth Annual Giraffe Awards charity gala was held tonight at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

The Giraffe Award is for those who stick their neck out for others, whether it’s through community service, advocacy, or direct help.

At the awards they recognized police officers, teachers, principals, pastors, doctors, and more

Those available to win an award were nominated by the community and selected by a council.

The nominees are then surprised with a visit from the council who gives them the good news.

“We’re recognizing people from different areas, genres, you know, doing different jobs all around the world, who just stick their necks out and go above and beyond for people,” said Twana Miller, founder.

There were 26 nominees in total.
