McNairy County Sheriff requests public’s help in unsolved murder

FROM THE MCNAIRY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE:

Sheriff’s Office needs your help with 5 year old Murder:

With the recent arrests in the murder of Johnny Harbin that occurred in December of 2022, the Sheriff’s Office wants the public to know that just because a case seems cold does not mean we are not working daily on these cases. We follow any leads no matter how small to try to bring closure and prosecution.

This week marks the 5 year anniversary of the only unsolved murder in Sheriff Bucks 14 years as Sheriff. On March 26th 2019, Eduardo Cota was murdered just outside the city limits of Selmer Tennessee. Mr Cotas murderer(s) lay in wait and executed him as he walked into his residence, he had no real ties to our community and unfortunately very little information has been generated that would help in solving this case.

Recent advances in technology may hold the answers though, Sheriff Buck believes that a broad range of advances in technology and video enhancement may finally identify the make and model of the vehicle driven by the suspect(s). Cellular analysis is rapidly advancing and the possibility of applying new techniques to this case may provide long awaited answers.

Sheriff Buck wants Mr Cotas friends and family to know that the Sheriff’s office will not stop working on this case until those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.

If anyone has information about this case contact the McNairy County Sheriff’s Office at 731-645-1004.
