Shiloh National Military Park is recruiting volunteers for Park Day 2024

PRESS RELEASE FROM SHILOH NATIONAL MILITARY PARK:

Shiloh National Military Park is Recruiting Volunteers for Park Day 2024

SHILOH, TN – Shiloh National Military Park is excited to announce March 30, 2024, as the date the park is participating in the American Battlefield Trust’s annual Park Day. Join rangers at 9:00 am on Saturday the 30th to help prepare Shiloh for peak visitation in the upcoming summer months. This year’s project will focus on painting new picnic tables. If enough helping hands register to participate, the park will also be constructing a new split rail fence on the battlefield.

Park Day began 28 years ago as an effort to bring interested individuals and groups together at the nation’s historic sites and battlefields to help keep these special places preserved and pristine. Every year thousands of private citizens donate their time and talents on this day to keep local historic sites maintained and welcoming for visitors from across the country and around the world.

If you would like to participate in this day of service, please call the Shiloh Visitor Center at 731-689-5696 to register. In the event of inclement weather, the project will be moved to April 20, 2024.

The park asks that those who volunteer meet at the visitor center at 8:45 am to complete any necessary paperwork on the day of the event. Rangers will offer a brief talk on the park and the battle’s significance before work begins. The work is projected to last from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm.

For more information on all events at both the Shiloh and Corinth battlefields please call 731-689-5696 or visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/shil and Facebook page at facebook.com/ShilohNMP.
