Tennessee’s historic marathon raises funds to prevent child abuse
JACKSON, Tenn. — Tennessee’s oldest marathon is coming up.

The Andrew Jackson Marathon and Half Marathon fundraises for the Carl Perkins Center for the prevention of child abuse.

Held every April, the race also kicks off Child Abuse Prevention Month.

This year’s marathon will be April 6th at 7 a.m.
Sign up, however, closes on April 1st.
Volunteers, especially road guards, are also important to helping the event go smoothly.

“Road guards essentially stand on the corner of certain key roads cause our marathon does run all the way from the farmers market, through downtown area back to the farmers market, so we need several road guards to cover those key areas,” said Madelyn Hefner, Events and Fundraising Coordinator at the Carl Perkins Center.
