TBR recognizes JSCC staff member for outstanding achievement

JACKSON, Tenn. — A local college staff member wins a statewide award.

Jackson State Community College‘s work-based learning coordinator, Cathi Roberts, is the winner of the statewide outstanding achievement recognition staff excellence award.

She represented the Western Region in the 6th annual SOAR awards hosted by the Tennessee Board of Regents, receiving the award March 28th.

Through her recruitment and retention efforts, Roberts has helped drastically raise the AMT programs enrollment and retention rates.

“It means the world to me to be recognized, but I also think it means a lot to the students to know that their accomplishments are being recognized through me and I think that’s really good for them and it’s great for the college as well,” said Roberts.

The SOAR awards are hosted annually and given to a single student, faculty member, and staff member from higher education institutions across Tennessee.
