Volunteers can walk the dogs, sponsor, spay and neuter, and foster a dog while it waits for adoption.

The shelter focuses on serving people in their community that need help with their pets.

Animal Control Officer, Riley Ferrell, shares more.

“If people want to help by donating, we take water buckets and we take those out to them and give them better. Rather than a flat bowl, they have a taller bowl. We give out kennels so that people can bring their dogs in at night rather than keeping them tethered 24/7, and sometimes we provide pens if we have them. So things like that and, as far as our dogs go, we always give them bones and treats so we can always use those,” said Ferrell.

The Humboldt shelter hopes for a new building in the near future which would provide a more welcoming atmosphere, create a greater capacity for dogs and provide the chance to house cats as well.
