Some spotty showers have produced some graupel and really small hail today across West Tennessee. The showers will move out by sunset, but the brisk winds and chilly temperatures will be sticking around for the rest of the work week. 60s will be back this weekend but so will the spotty showers on Sunday. Catch the full weekend forecast and we will let you know the latest thoughts on cloud cover for the eclipse on Monday; all coming up right here.

TONIGHT:

Some light showers came down on the back side of the low pressure system and cold front. The showers were quick, some really small hail or graupel mixed in with the heavier showers. The skies in general were mostly cloudy but will clear out some overnight into Thursday morning. The clearing of the skies behind the cold front will make for a cold night on Wednesday. Temperatures will drop to the upper 30s or low 40s by Thursday morning. The winds will stay windy at times tonight and will continue to come out of the west or northwest around 10-20 MPH. The wind chill will be near freezing in the morning.

THURSDAY:

After some early day clouds, the sun is going to be returning for the back half of the day on Thursday but it is going to be a cool day as well behind the cold front. The winds will be a bit breezy at times but will not be anywhere near as gusty as they are going to be on Wednesday. The winds will stay out of the northwest and that will only allow high temperatures to reach the upper 50s on Thursday. Some frost will be possible Thursday night as low temperatures could reach the mid 30s by Friday morning. Rain is not in the forecast on Thursday.

FRIDAY:

Friday is going to start out quite chilly with the clear skies. Some frost can be expected although as of now, we are expecting most of West Tennessee to stay about freezing but it is going to be close. If you have planted or have some things beginning to grow, keep an eye on the forecast as the week progresses just in case you need to take action to protect them. We will make it up to around 60° by the afternoon and we should see sunny skies for the most part on Friday. Rain is not in the forecast for Friday and the winds will remain out of the north around 5-10 MPH. Friday night will be cool again with temperatures again falling to the mid to upper 30s by Saturday morning.

THE WEEKEND:

We are looking at a mixed bag this weekend across West Tennessee. Saturday will be a mostly sunny and dry day but will be a little cooler than Sunday. We are expecting some showers to return Sunday and last overnight into Monday morning. Highs on Saturday will reach the lows 60s and will be a bit chilly due to the east breeze. Saturday morning will be chilly in the mid 30s and Sunday morning lows will be in the low 40s.

Sunday highs will reach up to around 70°. Clouds will move in during the day on Sunday and rain chances are 60% as of now on Sunday. The winds on Sunday will come out of the southeast. Clouds will stick around Monday morning but there is a slight chance they break up in time to see the Eclipse early Monday afternoon…. fingers crossed!

FINAL THOUGHT:

Another threat for storms returned on Tuesday, but we didn’t see anything too bad. The timing and location of this system was pretty good for us in West Tennessee. This system did produce large hail, extreme winds and tornadoes across sections of the county. Cooler and windy weather is coming to wrap up the work week and some frost seems likely at this time but a freeze is not likely, but cannot be ruled out. Clouds might look to spoil the eclipse viewing across the Mid South next Monday, but we will see how things are shaping up over the weekend.
