Pauline Pusser remains returned to gravesite

UPDATE: Evidence connects Bufford Pusser to wife’s murder, authorities say

ADAMSVILLE, Tenn. — The remains of Pauline Pusser have been returned to her gravesite at Adamsville Cemetery.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirms the remains were reinterred over the weekend.

This comes after her remains were exhumed from the cemetery on February 8 following a recent tip and the discovery that an autopsy was never performed.

We reached out to the TBI for the results of the examination, however no further details were confirmed.

The TBI stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Pauline Pusser, who was killed on August 12, 1967, was the wife of former McNairy County Sheriff Buford Pusser.
