WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
We are watching a lone storm this evening that is tracking to the north or northwest. It is producing some brief heavy rain, large hail and up to 60 MPH winds. This storm turned severe around 415pm and is tracking to the northeast. Several rounds of showers and storms are in the forecast this week.

The partial eclipse was viewable in West Tennessee this afternoon through the partly cloudy skies. Skies will remain partly cloudy this evening before increasing later tonight. As we get going into the evening, rain showers and a few storms will be moving up from the south. Get used to rain, showers are in the forecast for the next 4 days. Catch the latest on just how much rain we are going to see this week and find out when the most likely time for storms to be mixing in as well coming up here.
TONIGHT:
A few isolated storms will move in this evening and some of them could be strong or severe and produce large hail and some brief strong wind gusts. The storms will move out early tonight before more showers return into the early morning hours on Tuesday. Heavy rain is likely to be coming down at times later tonight. The winds will stay light out of the south and cloud cover will also increase as the night goes on. Chances for rain overnight is 90%. It will be warm and humid as well tonight with morning lows only falling to the upper 50s by Tuesday morning.
TUESDAY:
Tuesday is going to be a wet day for all of us in West Tennessee. Rain chances are 100% on Tuesday and will be off and on all day and all night long. Do not expect to see the sun as cloudy to mostly cloudy skies will be hanging around all day. Up to 1-2″ of rain will come down for many of us. Highs on Tuesday will reach the mid 60s and the winds will be breezy at times and come out of the south. Tuesday night will also be warm, wet and humid with lows falling down to around 60° Tuesday night.
WEDNESDAY:
The best shot for storms this week appears to be on Wednesday, but we are currently only under a marginal risk for severe storms (1/5). We are though, regardless of the storm threat, going to be encountering several rounds of heavy rain showers too. Highs on Wednesday will reach the upper 60s under the clouds and Wednesday night lows will be warm again and fall to the mid 50s. Expect a cloudy day on Wednesday and the winds will remain a bit breezy and continue to come from the southeast and might transition to the west as the night goes on. Chances for rain on Wednesday is 90% as of now.
THURSDAY:
The rain showers will continue into the day on Thursday before moving out in the afternoon and evening hours. We are expecting dry weather by Thursday night for all of West Tennessee. Highs on Thursday will reach the mid 60s again and expect another cloudy day. If the skies clear out Thursday night into Friday morning, lows could fall to the mid 40s by Friday morning. The winds are forecast to come out of the west on Thursday on the back side of a low pressure system exiting off to the east of us. Chances for rain on Thursday is 80% during the first half of the day.
FRIDAY:
Friday is looking like a really nice day with mostly sunny skies. It will not be an overly warm or humid day and highs will reach the mid 60s again. Friday night will be a bit cool with temperatures dropping down to the mid 40s to kick off the weekend. The winds on Friday are going to come out of the northwest on the backside of the storm system that brought all the rain earlier in the week. The nice weather is forecast to continue into the weekend for Saturday but it is going to be much warmer this weekend as well.
FINAL THOUGHT:
Get ready for the rain this week. A widespread 2-3″ of rain is coming across West Tennessee and there is a shot some people get close to 4″ before everything is all said and done. The showers and storms are going to be coming in waves this week. Overall the severe weather threat appears to be low as of now, but there will be storms mixing in and a few severe storms will be possible this week. We have likely seen our last freeze and probably our last frost of the season. The overall weather pattern looks to be quite warm for the middle of April, so feel free to plant all you want this weekend.
