Student filmmakers shine at Union’s annual awards show
JACKSON, Tenn. — One local university holds a special awards show recognizing the best of the best.
The 19th annual Union Student Film Festival was held this evening at the Humboldt 3 Movie Theater.
This festival provides a public venue for the screening of student films.
Its purpose is to encourage filmmakers at union and give them a face-to-face platform to showcase their talents.
Seven films were shown this evening and those in attendance got to vote on which film was the best in the Student Choice Awards.
With awards presented in various categories.
“We have awards in different categories, for technical awards, for performing awards and then some big overall awards for best long-form, short-form and then non-narrative,” said Rachael Camp, Assistant Professor of Digital Media and Film Studies at Union University.
The following is a list of film awards and their subsequent winners:
- Best Long Form: Exit Interview by Jackson Glas
- Best Short Form: Blue’s Clue by Davis Smith
- Best Non-Narrative: House of Glass by John Dawson Kinchen, IV
- Best Supporting Performance: Jackson Glas in Exit Interview
- Best Female Performance: Marina Long in The Audition
- Best Male Performance: Matt Randall in Blue’s Clue
- Best Editing Nominees: Exit Interview by Jackson Glas
- Best Cinematography: Blue’s Clue by Jack Schreiner
- Best Director: Blue’s Clue by Davis Smith and Jack Schreiner
- SAC Students’ Choice award: Exit Interview by Jackson Glas
