Washington Douglass Head Start hosts annual celebratory event

JACKSON, Tenn. — ‘Week of the Young Child’ is an annual celebration of early learning, young children, their teachers, and families.

Washington Douglass Head Start kicked off the week with Music Monday.

Community individuals came in to be positive examples for the children.

The children wore outlandish hats and enjoyed the fun.

All classes gathered in the gym.

Washington Douglass Head Start Center Manager, Jerry Woods, shares more.

“Well what I want our students to take away is an excitement of their creativity, an excitement that they can have brighter outcomes, that they can be a success,” said Woods.

Since its beginning in 1965, the head start program has worked hard to meet the emotional, social, health, nutritional, and psychological needs of preschool children.
