Clara Louise Joyner Gilmer
Clara Louise Joyner Gilmer, age 95, resident of Collierville, Tennessee and wife of the late Joseph “JC” Gilmer, departed this life Saturday morning, April 13, 2024 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville.
Louise was born November 18, 1928 in Fayette County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Arthur Joyner and Clara High Joyner. She was married in 1947 to Joseph “JC” Gilmer, who preceded her in death. Louise was employed at Wal-Mart in the fabric department before her retirement. She was a member of Kirk Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, crafting, quilting, crocheting and gardening. She loved making sausage and biscuits for her grandchildren.
Mrs. Gilmer is survived by her daughter, Marcia Hall (Shawn); her son, Michael Gilmer (Denese); her sister, Mittie Evie Halfacre; her brother, Paul Joyner (Edith); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Merk; her son, Larry Gilmer; five siblings and one grandchild.
A visitation for Mrs. Gilmer will be from 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the Magnolia Cemetery Chapel in Collierville. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the Magnolia Cemetery Chapel with Bro. John Enoch of Covenant Baptist Church in Collierville, officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Baptist Reynolds Hospice House, 1520 W. Poplar Avenue, Collierville, TN 38017.
