Dresden prepares for 44th anniversary of Tennessee Iris Festival

DRESDEN, Tenn. — 2024 brings about the 44th anniversary of the Tennessee Iris Festival celebration in Dresden.

It was first begun by the Dresden Business Association in 1980 as an annual community Easter parade.

The festival has grown into an event with a year-round influence in the heart of Weakley County.

Whether showcasing the brightest talents in local art and music, playing host to well-known public figures, or featuring the best of area businesses, the Tennessee Iris Festival has built a tradition of excellence spanning across four decades.

The Iris Festival begins on Friday, April 26th, with the mayor’s kick-off dinner at the Dresden Farmers Market.

Tickets are 10 dollars.

“We have something for everyone. From free food to live music, games, bingo, flower show. It’s just a great time for the community to come out and fellowship with one another,” said Jennifer Branscum, Chairman for the Tennessee Iris Festival.

The festival will end on Saturday, May 4th, with a parade beginning at 10 a.m. that morning.
