Local baseball game supports cancer patients, honors legacy

ADAMSVILLE, Tenn. — There was a sea of pink on the field today as players, coaches, and supporters took part in a very special event.

A Pink Out baseball game was held today at Adamsville High School.

Over the past month, all of the players were challenged to raise money for a local, non-profit organization called Cassie’s Cause.

This organization gives local cancer patients and their families the opportunity to enjoy an all expense paid weekend away to rest, recharge, and create lasting memories together.

It’s in memory of Cassie Johnson Tidwell.

“Cassie is my friend that we lost to breast cancer in 2022 and we went to high school here at Adamsville High School. So to see our high school give back to us in such a special way, it just warms our hearts,” said Julianne Fowler, best friend to Cassie Tidwell.

“Just to know that they’re willing to go out of their way to help a great cause and being on a team. you’re already being apart of something bigger than yourself, but to go and truly help others that are in need, that’s a testament to their character and we’re happy to have them be apart of something special,” said Jason Foley, Head Coach for Adamsville Baseball.

The players raised $5,600.

The money was presented to Cassie’s Cause at the game, and Greer, Cassie’s son, threw the first pitch.
