Singers and musicians unite to present a special concert

JACKSON, Tenn.—A string orchestra and a combined choir put on a concert to give peace and restore hope.

The Jackson Choral Society under the direction of Zach Young, were joined by members of the Jackson State Community College Innovation Ensemble directed by Esther Gray for a spring concert.

The concert focused on the theme of “Light” at the First Baptist Church of Jackson.

Tickets were 20 dollars at the door and 15 dollars for students.

The 80 plus member combined choir was accompanied by a string orchestra.

A short intermission was held in between the concert.

“We bring people from all over the region, so people are driving to come sing together, to make music together and to provide music to the community around them” said Joleigh Sutton, Treasurer of Jackson Choral Society.

All proceeds from the tickets go to furthering music in the community, such as concerts and paying musicians.
