Jackson prepares to celebrate youth with Children’s Day event

JACKSON, Tenn. — Get ready for the 2nd annual Children’s Day, in the Hub City.

The Children’s Day event taking place on Friday, April 26, will include a live musical performance from North Parkway Middle School.

Artwork will be showcased at City Hall throughout the week.

It will also feature the announcement of the Mayor’s Youth Council Outstanding Youth Award winner and guest speaker Elvia Trejo-Reyes, City of Jackson Neighborhood Specialist.

“A lot of times we award those in our community who are, you know, older and doing things and that’s great but we also want the youth to be inspired and to have a sense of civic pride,” said Community Relations Director for Jackson, Christiana Gallagher.

The art exhibit had portrait entries from Lincoln Elementary, Alexander Elementary, Thelma Barker Elementary, and Nova Early Learning Center.
