Two years later, defendant pleads guilty in vehicular homicide case
JACKSON, Tenn. — A defendant pleaded guilty in court yesterday, April 22, concerning an incident that occurred over two years ago.
According to 26th District Attorney General Jody Pickens, police noticed a vehicle speeding down interstate 40 and attempted to pull the vehicle over and the driver refused to stop.
A chase ensued that led authorities through residential neighborhoods in North Jackson and eventually back onto I-40.
“Until they got to Exit 68 , which would be the Providence Road exit. Got off there, that’s of course those more county roads and officers according to reports, didn’t see the wreck but it was just on Providence Road just North of Searcy Taylor Road,” said Pickens.
Officers arrived at the crash scene to find the driver of the vehicle injured and the passenger, who was ejected, deceased at the scene.
The driver, identified as a 17-year-old, was taken to a hospital and charged with a multitude of felonies.
Two years later, now 19 years old, Jordan Kramer appeared in court.
Yesterday, April 22, Kramer pleaded guilty to a multitude of felony charges, three of those being Reckless endangerment, Evading arrest, and Vehicular homicide.
He will serve five years in a state prison.
We spoke to Attorney Mark Donahoe, who represented Kramer, who said Kramer was apologetic in the courtroom.
“He expressed tremendous regret and remorse for what had happened and the result of the accident and he was very very clear to the judge on that issue,” said Donahoe.
Kramer will serve his felony charges concurrently, resulting in the five year sentence.
