United Way launches website to make volunteering easier
JACKSON, Tenn. — One local organization created a website to help share information about volunteering opportunities across West Tennessee.
The Volunteer West Tennessee website will help find volunteer opportunities and track the hours you helped.
“The really cool thing about this website is that you can look back and see all of your volunteer resume and it kind of tallies it up for you and I know for me I find that to be really really cool and it’s really exciting to just look back and be really proud of all the volunteer opportunities you got to participate in,” said Miss Hub City Volunteer, Reese Davis.
This is a collaboration with Governor Bill Lee’s wife.
“This was an initiative by Maria Lee, Governor Lee’s wife, and she started with Volunteer Serves and Volunteer Tennessee. We were really really glad to be able to partner with them and to be that volunteer hub for West Tennessee,” said President and CEO of United Way, Matt Marshal.
This website can be accessed by organizations that need volunteer help or by those looking for volunteer opportunities.
“If you’re an agency or a non-profit group or a church, we would love for your agency to be signed up so you can post your volunteer opportunities there and if you’re someone that wants to volunteer we want you to come on and volunteer as well,” said Marshal.
As of now there aren’t many volunteer opportunities posted.
“If you’re an organization we highly encourage you to register and post your volunteer opportunities so that volunteers are ready to jump right in. I know I’m ready. So, we invite you to register and if you are a volunteer you can register and sign up for those opportunities to sign up on the website,” said Davis.

Overall, this website will help others stay informed and keep their community service hours tallied.
