Weak Front Passing Tonight, Showers Late Thursday, Sunday Night Storm Threat
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
A weak front will move through West Tennessee tonight and bring a few showers north of Jackson between 10pm and midnight. As the night goes on and the front moves south into drier air, the rain chances will quickly wrap up. Another weak system will bring a round of showers and a few rumbles of thunder late Thursday. The next chance for severe weather returns Sunday night. Catch the latest on all three storm systems coming up here.

TONIGHT:
Mostly sunny skies stuck around for our Tuesday in West Tennessee. It was a decent afternoon but winds were quite breezy and came out of the southwest between 10-20 MPH. A cold front will be approaching and will pass through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The front looks mostly dry but a few light showers may develop between 10pm tonight and 4am into Wednesday morning. Highs on Tuesday made it up to the mid 70s and Tuesday night lows will drop to the mid 50s. There will be some clouds sticking around regardless Tuesday night even if we do not see much rain. Rain chances Tuesday night are only sitting at 20%.

WEDNESDAY:
Partly cloudy skies are on tap for Wednesday across West Tennessee. There could be a few isolated light showers early Wednesday morning but most of us will be dry. Chances for rain are 20% early in the morning on Wednesday. The winds on Wednesday are expected to come out of the north behind the weak cold front coming Tuesday night. High temperatures will again reach the low 60s and expect partly cloudy skies in general. Wednesday night lows will dip down to around 50°.

THURSDAY:
There will be some scattered showers late Thursday but we are not expecting severe weather or big storms. A few rumbles of thunder will be possible though and chances for rain are at 60% as of now and will move in as early as 6pm and stick around overnight into Friday morning. The winds will come out of the east as the stalled out front will drift back across the region. Thursday highs are forecast to be up around 70° and Thursday night lows will only fall to the upper 50s. We are expecting mostly cloudy skies to move back in late Thursday and linger around for most of the day on Friday.

FRIDAY:
There could be a few morning showers that will clear out by sunrise. Also, some late storms are expected west of the Mississippi River on Friday, but they are not likely to make it into West Tennessee. If the storms do pass by, it will be late on Friday night but confidence in that currently is low. The winds will come out of the south on Friday and that will warm most of us back up to around 80°. Expect a mostly cloudy day although there will be a chance for the sun to peek through at times. Friday night lows will only reach the mid 60s due to the cloud cover and increase in humidity due to the southerly winds. Chances for rain on Friday are 30% in the morning and 20% overnight.

THE WEEKEND:
We are looking at a warm and humid weekend across the Mid South. This could eventually lead to a round of strong to severe storms but the timing of the event isn’t locked in just yet. The current thinking is late Sunday night into Monday morning the worst of it will come through West Tennessee. We will be watching that situation closely during the week and have updates each day this week as the weekend gets closer.

Highs both days will make it up to the low to mid 80s with morning lows generally around the mid 60s. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected but there will be times when the sun comes out this weekend as well. The winds will be breezy most of the weekend and come out of the south. Chances for rain on Saturday is 10% with chances getting as high as 40% Sunday night.

FINAL THOUGHT:
We are expecting a pretty typical mid April week across West Tennessee. We have almost for sure saw our last freeze after some people encountered some light frost Monday morning. A weak mostly dry front will move through Tuesday night and some showers are forecast to return late Thursday. A more explosive system will be on the way sometime late into the weekend that could bring our next chance for severe weather. We are also going to be much warmer this weekend than last weekend across the entire region. Severe storms are likely west of Tennessee for Friday, Saturday and Sunday according to the Storm Prediction Center.
