Jackson Chamber announces website for potential new residents
JACKSON, Tenn. — Between low property taxes and lower costs of everyday items, the advantages of of living in West Tennessee keep adding up.
The greater Jackson Chamber announces the launch of a new site for those looking to move to the Hub City.
Move to Jackson Campaign is an initiative to inform families, real estate brokers, and employment recruiters of opportunities available in Jackson and its surrounding areas.
A housing study last year showed a possible 10 to 13% growth in new residents in Jackson by the year 20-35.
“So this site was developed to help those folks look at Jackson and be more informed about the community they are interested in moving to,” said President and CEO of the Greater Jackson Chamber, Kyle Spurgeon.
The site uses geofencing data to compare housing and healthcare costs, and the overall cost of living to other cities across the country.
The site also provides information about career opportunities including major employers in the area, education options and annual events for the family.
Spurgeon spoke to the need for homes in the area, and how this growth would impact the need for single family housing.
“Over the next decade you’re going to see more and more homes being built in this community because the need is there and it’s across all price points. It’s attainable homes all the way to $600,000-$800,000 price points and over a million. We don’t need just need one type of home here. You are going to see more and more built across the entire spectrum,” said Spurgeon.
Spurgeon also emphasizes the accessibility to surrounding destinations, like the beach and the mountains.
“There’s just a lot of assets here. Look, we are two hours from Nashville, you’re an hour from Memphis, four hours from St. Louis. You can live here and access many places around the country. You can be at the beach in 7 hours from here,” said Spurgeon.
