Budget committee holds meeting to discuss plans for 2025
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson budget committee held a meeting to discuss plans for the 2025 year.
Members met at city hall to discuss anticipated expenses such as 100-thousand increase in premium.
Dental insurance will go up by 3 percent with no changes in vision.
Staffing salary for city workers was also discussed in the meeting.
Staff workers are expected to receive a pay raise.
Mayor Scott Conger explained how that would work.
“Step raises are provided that when your supervisor agrees that you need a step raise, you get two and a half percent every year. And so those raises those departments get, every employee gets that step raise every year, no matter if they’re in the same position,” said Mayor Conger.
These plans have not been finalized and are not official.
They still have to be voted on by council members during the budget session next week.
