Local senior announced as district winner in Congressional Art Competition
HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — A local winner has been announced for the annual Congressional Art Competition.
Congressman David Kustoff hosted a reception this evening to announce the winner.
The art reception was held at the West Tennessee Regional Art center in Humboldt.
This annual competition is a nationwide effort by the members of the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize and encourage the artistic talent across the nation.
Anne Cornne Willard, a Senior at Trinity Christian Academy won this year’s competition for our district.
We spoke with her on the inspiration for her painting.
“So we had an assignment to pick something that’s seemingly insignificant and that’s what the title of this is. So something you look over in your daily life but that you kind of see and appreciate whenever you are like ‘oh that’s something I wouldn’t normally pick out,” said Willard.
The winning artwork from each congressional district across the country will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol, and Willard will now have the opportunity to participate in the national awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.
