Man behind bars for vehicular homicide in Madison County

JACKSON, Tenn. — A man is behind bars after being indicted for vehicular homicide and several other charges.

Court records show that 22-year-old Tyler Collins was indicted by a Madison County Grand Jury in the June 2023 death of Cameron Harris.

According to court documents, Collins was charged with reckless vehicular homicide, vehicular homicide due to intoxication, vehicular assault, felony reckless endangerment, driving under the influence, reckless driving, driving on a revoked/suspended license, violation of the financial responsibility law, speeding and improper passing.

The charges stem from an incident on June 17, 2023, in which the Grand Jury indicted Collins on operating a motor vehicle under the influence, ultimately resulting in the death of Harris.

Records show the incident also resulted in serious bodily injury to another individual.

According to the indictment, Collins, who was found to have a blood alcohol level over the legal limit, engaged in the reckless behavior all while driving on a revoked or suspended license.

Records available online indicate Collins currently remains in custody at the Madison County jail.
