Man arrested after brandishing firearm on school property
NEWBERN, Tenn. — According to a social media post by the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office, a man was arrested after brandishing a gun on school property.

Friday, a man was seen brandishing a handgun from his vehicle in the parking lot of Northview Middle School.
The school was then placed on lockdown and police began trying to identify and locate the individual.

Authorities located the man, identified as Cody Burns, a handgun, and his vehicle on East Charles Moore Road in Newbern.
He was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault and carrying a firearm on school property.
Burns is now in custody at the Dyer County jail, has no bond at this time, and is expecting a court appearance on Monday.
