Michael Shane Goforth

Michael Shane Goforth, age 49, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of Kelly Elston, departed this life Saturday evening, April 27, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Tennessee.

Michael was born January 22, 1975 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the late Donald Goforth and Linda Louise Watson Goforth. He graduated from Fayette-Ware High School in Somerville, Tennessee and continued his education at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, Mississippi. Michael was employed at Penske for 20 years and was a maintenance supervisor.

Mr. Goforth was married September 26, 2020 to Kelly Elston. He enjoyed barbecuing with his family and friends, fishing and playing poker. Michael was involved with Fright Co. Farms in Oakland and a fan of Alabama football.

Mr. Goforth is survived by his wife, Kelly Elston of Oakland, TN; two sons, Corey Michael Goforth (Kimberly) of Oakland, TN and Hadin Johnson of Oakland, TN; his daughter, Ariel Goforth of Memphis, TN his sister, Loretta “Sissy” Trejo (Fransisco) of Cordova, TN; two brothers, Robert Goforth (Regina) of Millington, TN and Mark Goforth of Millington, TN; his granddaughter, Kinley Goforth of Oakland, TN; and his grandson due in October, Cohen Michael Goforth. He also leaves his Shiba Inu dog, Bella.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Australian Shepherd-Jack Russell mix dog, Roxey.

A visitation for Mr. Goforth will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Memorial Services will be at 2 P.M. Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Hardin, Tommy Ramage, Scott Hutcherson, Cody Goforth and Jason Goforth.
