West TN Strawberry Festival prepares to return

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — It’s the largest and longest running festival, and every year since 1934 the Strawberry Festival has returned to West Tennessee.

The very first festivals were designed as a way to market Humboldt’s community and all of West Tennessee in a challenging economy.

Organizers went to state officials for support and came up with a celebration that included bringing the town and the surrounding community together.

Those who attend are entertained, and contests and events are planned simply for enjoyment and fellowship.

The festival features things like pageants, music, fireworks, parades and floats, 5k and 10k runs, and much more.

“Eat, drink, and be berry! I came up with the theme and I thought that, to me, just sums it all up. We want you to come and have a good time. Not only for Humboldt, but just West Tennessee. Just see what we’re all about and come and enjoy a community event,” said Anne Short, President of the Strawberry Festival.

The 86th annual West Tennessee Strawberry Festival will run from Sunday, May 5 until Saturday, May 11.
