WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

We hit 87° today in Jackson making it the warmest day of 2024 so far. We are looking at another hot day tomorrow before some showers and storms move in late Thursday evening and stick around for the first half of the day on Friday. This weekend looks mostly dry but each day we may be dodging a few pop up showers or weak storms. Catch the latest details and your full forecast coming up here.

TONIGHT:

Wednesday was a really nice and mostly sunny day across all of West Tennessee. The front will pushed back to the north and the winds returned to the southwest into the afternoon and evening helping to warm us back up into the mid 80s. We should see a mostly clear night and rain showers are not in the forecast for tonight or Thursday morning. It is a tad humid  and that will keep overnight temperatures in the low to mid 60s for Thursday morning.

THURSDAY:

Most of the day Thursday is going to be nice but a few late evening showers or weak storms may try to move back in. Rain chances will be increasing overnight into Friday morning, Thursday is going to be a warm and humid day with highs in the mid to maybe even upper 80s. The winds will stay out of the south all day keeping the humidity up. Clouds will build in as the day goes on and we are expecting a mostly cloudy night. Thursday night rain chances are 60% and temperatures overnight into Friday morning will fall down to the mid 60s.

FRIDAY:

Showers and storms are likely to develop and stick around for the first half of the day on Friday. As of now it does not appear to be a big severe weather type system for us but some storms will be likely. We are going to be encountering a cloudy day and rain chances are 90% as of now. The main question is when will the showers clear out on Friday. There is some uncertainty to when the showers will wrap up and if they will continue into Friday night. Friday will also be humid but a little cooler under the clouds and southwest winds. Friday highs will make it to the upper 70s and likely stay below 80°. Friday night lows will fall down to the low 60s to kick off your weekend.

THE WEEKEND:

As of now the weekend isn’t looking too bad for us in West Tennessee. Highs will make it into the low 80s and morning lows will hang around 60°. The winds this weekend are expected to come out of the northwest for a while on Saturday before changing back to the south into the day on Sunday. We are likely going to dry Saturday unless a few of Friday’s rain showers still linger around into Saturday morning. Rain chances will increase some late in the day on Sunday with a few weak evening storms being a possibility. Rain chances on Sunday are only 30% though. There will be more clouds regardless late Sunday if we see the storms show up or not.

NEXT WEEK:

We are expecting some showers and storms to kick off next week on Monday. There is a chance the showers and storms clear out in time for the fireworks Monday night for the Strawberry Festival, but it is going to be close. Highs will stay in the mid 80s for most of next week and morning lows will hang between 65-70°. It will be a warm and humid week with the winds coming out of the south for the majority of the week as well. There will be some pop up showers or weak storms in the middle of next week but they will be hard to forecast exactly when and where they will be popping up. The reason for these showers will be due to the high humidity each afternoon. There appears to be a better shot for rain and storms towards the back half of the week, unfortunately just in time for the parades in Humboldt on Thursday and Friday.

FINAL THOUGHT:

After a mostly dry weekend, rain showers and a few storms returned on Monday to West Tennessee as a cold front moved through. Behind the front, really nice weather is coming for the middle of the week before the next chances for rain and storms come back late in the work week. A mixed bag is on the way for the weekend as well. The current forecast keeps severe weather away from West Tennessee for the next 7 days but there will still be a few rounds of storms to move through.
