Local middle school students to participate in Greenpower race
JACKSON, Tenn. — Several students prepare to put the pedal to the metal.
Rose Hill Middle School is one of four schools in the district that will compete in Greenpower racing.
The students will race their electric powered vehicles.
Since the beginning of the school year, these students have worked on creating their model race car.
Led by their teacher Whitney Hogg, the selected students will travel to Talladega, Alabama tomorrow to compete in two racing contests.
Ms. Hogg said that some of the 8th grade participants will be able to drive the powered vehicle because it is their last year at Rose Hill.
They plan to take the win this weekend.
The competition will begin on Saturday morning, May 4.
“I’ve been there multiple times for Nascar races but for my experience to go to a green powered race and like race there, it’s gonna be pretty exciting for me,” said Rylee Earnest, 8th grade participant.
The students will leave around 6 a.m. and return on Sunday, May 5.
