Local youth baseball league celebrates 75th anniversary
JACKSON, Tenn. — One local youth baseball league is marking a major milestone.
The Milan Cal Ripken Youth Baseball League is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
Players, coaches and leaders from the league and community held a celebratory event at Milan City Park tonight, May 2.
Organizers say the success of this youth baseball program is because of support from the community.
“So the community has always been involved in youth sports, especially little league and you know it’s America’s favorite past time, and we’ve been here, strong, for 75 years,” said Lindsey Perry, Treasurer for Milan Little League.
Perry says also, in 1949, Milan hosted the Southeastern Regional Tournament for Little League Baseball.
