Local city issues proclamation in honor of fallen firefighters

DYERSBURG, Tenn.—One local city issues a proclamation in honor of fallen firefighters.

According to a social media post from City of Dyersburg, the city will now recognize May 4-5 as National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.

The proclamation comes forth in honor and remembrance of City of Dyersburg Firefighters William L. Dudley, Pratt Fletcher and Bryon M. Robb. The firefighters lost their lives in service while protecting the lives of others.

According to the proclamation, around 80 fire fighters per year lose their lives in the line of duty. And the newly recognized National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend will appropriately fall the weekend following the recognition of the International Firefighters’ Day.

The proclamation was signed into placement by City of Dyersburg Mayor John Holden on Friday, May 3rd.
