EDC meets, discusses ways to increase tourism

JACKSON, Tenn. — Leaders with Jackson’s Economic Development Committee held a meeting today.

According to Lori Nunnery, CEO of Visit Jackson, TN, the goal of the meeting is to give grants to events that bring in visitors to Jackson.

During the meeting this afternoon, they discussed which events to give grant money to.

Among a list of more than 15 names, the various pageants were awarded the most amount of money with the Miss Teen Volunteer America and Miss Volunteer America Pageants each getting 20-thousand dollars.

Others mentioned on the list to receive funding was Lane College’s homecoming, last weekend’s Vintage Makers Fest, and more.
