A Step Ahead Foundation welcomes new executive director

JACKSON, Tenn. — One non-profit is celebrating a new addition to the team.

A Step Ahead Foundation of West Tennessee held a meet and greet today, May 7.

Hosted at Rock ‘n Dough Pizza, the event welcomed La’Tanya Woods as their new Executive Director.

Woods shares that she is excited for her new role which involves building relationships and networking with community sponsors.

She also shares that A Step Ahead Foundation’s mission is to empower women in various areas such as financial literacy and birth control.

Woods then spoke on one program specifically geared towards teens.

“So we have a program called our empower teen council which we go around into different schools and we teach them about, like I said again, financial literacy, education. We talk to them about safe relationships as well as contraceptives,” said Woods.

A Step Ahead recently received a grant from 101 Women of Hope which enabled them to give first time graduates the opportunity to take a laptop to school with them.
