Mayor’s Civic Pride Awards returns to the Hub City
JACKSON, Tenn. — Keep Jackson Beautiful and the City of Jackson are announcing the kickoff for 2024 Mayor’s Civic Pride Awards.
This is the 34th year for the Mayor’s Civic Pride Award here’s what you need to know to see if your yard qualifies.
“We will give out one award per district for residential and one honorable mention. So that will be 10 awards total for residential and then we will do a winner and honorable mention for church business, and school division,” said Danielle Wade, Coordinator for Keep Jackson Beautiful.
Each submission is required to be in Jackson city limits.
Judges will look for aesthetic, landscape and flower beds, and lawn and hard surfaces.
“Once they’re nominated we will have a individual panel of master gardeners equipped with the criteria to go around and judge these houses. District by district until we get our winners. And then after that we will personally notify those winners that they won and then invite them to the event,” said Wade.
There is another award that those that take pride in their yards can appreciate.
“We also give out an award called the environmental stewardship award which is a resident of the City of Jackson who goes above and beyond in environmental concerns whether that be beautifying their yard. Going through a program like the smart yard program a large scale recycling effort excreta,” said Wade.
This award is all about spreading the pride of having a beautiful yard.
“This event is basically not only to celebrate curb appeal for our residence but curb appeal for our churches, our businesses, and our schools. That are going above and beyond and taking pride for our community and we like to take this as just an opportunity to highlight and to also celebrate those entities,” said Wade.
To submit a nomination, visit the City of Jackson website.
The last date to nominate someone is on Friday, May 31.
