Anne Kent Spencer
Anne Kent Spencer, age 84, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of Jimmy N. Spencer, departed this life Thursday evening, May 9, 2024 at her home.
Anne was born November 8, 1939 in Jackson, Tennessee and grew up in Enville, Tennessee, which was near and dear to her heart. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1957 and received her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1961. Anne was married March 17, 1961 to Jimmy N. Spencer.
Mrs. Spencer was employed as a teacher for the Weakley County School System for many years. She was most recently a resident of Somerville and was a member of Somerville Methodist Church. Anne enjoyed reading and will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Mrs. Spencer is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jimmy N. Spencer of Somerville, TN; her daughter, Laura Rogers (Steve) of Martin, TN; her son, David N. Spencer (Paige) of Martin, TN; her sister, Nancy Freeman (Jerry) of Enville, TN; four grandchildren, Taylor Spencer of Martin, TN, Tanner Spencer (Cassidy) of Jackson, TN, Mason Wortham (Mandi) of Martin, TN and Jared Wortham (fiancé, Allie Denton) of Nashville, TN; and her great-grandson, C.J. Wortham. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Faye Kent.
A visitation for Mrs. Spencer will be from 12 to 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Don VanVoorhis, pastor of Somerville Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Old Union Cemetery at Laconia.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Taylor Spencer, Tanner Spencer, Mason Wortham, Steve Rogers, Jared Wortham and Richard “Ricky” Campbell.
