Marine Corps League hosts appreciation cookout for law enforcement

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Police Department received lunch from a group of leaders who say they just want to help the community.

The Marine Corps League cooked hot dogs and hamburgers for the Jackson Police Department to enjoy.

Over 150 officers were fed during this event.

The League has put on this a cookout for the past eight years.

We spoke to L.C. Reed, 2nd Junior Vice Commander, who said that they just wanted to take the time to support and acknowledge local law enforcement for their work.

“The police department has been around. They go out there. It’s almost like what we do in the military. We go out there and put our lives on the line in the military and these guys do it every day. It’s something that we see within us. Most of them are military too so it’s like giving back to them,” said Reed.

Reed further stated that they not only serve JPD, but the community as a whole.
