Augustine School hosts its Spring Soiree

JACKSON, Tenn.—It’s the largest fundraiser of the year for one local school.

Augustine School held their Spring Soiree this evening.

It was a night full of food, drinks and laughter.

Director of development, Bailey Bell told us that Augustine’s School holds this fundraiser to raise money for capital projects at the school.

The biggest one is our natural playground. What that will be is rather than having a traditional playground where there’s a lot of metal and plastic things that aren’t natural, we’re trying to create a playground as if a kid was to be playing in nature,” Bell said.

He said that the playground would have different features like logs and hills.

He also said that their classical approach is what makes them unique.

“It’s about the whole child. It’s about a holistic approach of not just educating a student in one particular subject but seeing the kid as a whole. And a big part of that is knowing that God created kids to play,” Bell said.

A silent auction was also held until 8 p.m. For participants to bid on different items such as gift bags and vouchers to eateries such as Crystal Zen and Juice.

The live auction began immediately after.

Comedian Jaron Myers told jokes to the audience that kept them laughing throughout the night.

“Our constituents are made up of families of the school, faculty and staff. But also friends of the school that are involved in the community that might not have students at the school but are somehow connected through a mutual friend or just love the mission of the school,” Bell said.

One of the sponsors of the event, Leaders Credit Union, purchased eight tickets that were given to teachers.
